Grief and Loss Counseling

Grief can be heavy, confusing, and lonely. I offer grief counseling for teens, college students, and adults who want a steady place to talk about someone or something they've lost.

Losses people bring

Many people come after the death of someone close: a parent, a partner, a child, a friend, or a grandparent. It might have happened last month or many years ago. Grief doesn't keep a schedule.

Other losses hurt too, like a job, a relationship, a move far from home, your health, or a future you had pictured. You don't need to explain why a loss "counts."

What grief can feel like

There is no right way to grieve. People tell me about things like these:

  • Waves of sadness that come out of nowhere
  • Feeling numb, or fine one day and not the next
  • Guilt, anger, or questions that keep you up at night
  • Trouble focusing at school or work
  • Feeling like others expect you to be "over it"

What working together can look like

We go at your pace. Some people want to tell the story of their loss. Others want to talk about how to get through a holiday, a birthday, or a regular Tuesday. You decide what we talk about and how much you share.

My goal isn't to make you stop missing someone. It's to give you room to carry the loss and still find your way forward. If faith or family traditions are part of how you grieve, they're welcome here.
