Trauma Therapy for Kids (TF-CBT) in Siloam Springs
I offer trauma therapy for kids in Siloam Springs using TF-CBT, for children ages 4 to 12 who have been through something frightening or painful. I'm trained in TF-CBT, and I meet with you before I meet your child.

TF-CBT stands for Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. It's a step-by-step approach for children who have been through something hard, like an accident, the sudden loss of someone close, violence at home or nearby, or abuse. It was built for children and parents together, so you're part of it from the start.
With younger children I bring in play, drawing, and stories, so each step fits how kids actually communicate.
What sessions are like
Over time, your child and I work through steps like these:
- Learning what fear and stress do to the body, in kid-sized words
- Practicing ways to calm down, like slow breathing and noticing the body
- Naming feelings and the thoughts that come with them
- When your child is ready, slowly putting what happened into words, drawings, or play
- Talking about safety and who your child can go to for help
Your part as a parent
You meet with me too, often during the same visit. I show you the same calming skills your child is learning, so you can practice them at home. Later, if it fits your family, your child may share parts of their story with you in a session with me there.
You don't have to have the right words. Part of my job is helping you find them.
Pace and safety
We don't start with the hardest memory. We build calming skills first, and we go at your child's pace. If something feels like too much, we slow down.
TF-CBT is for children who are now in a safe place. If your child isn't safe yet, that comes first, and we'll talk about it on the first call.
Privacy and reporting
I keep what your child says private, and I tell you what you need to know. If I ever learn that a child is being hurt or is in danger, Arkansas law requires me to report it. I'll explain this before we start.

Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is a structured, step-by-step approach for children who have been through something traumatic. Children learn ways to calm down and name their feelings, and when they're ready, they talk about what happened. Parents take part too.
Not right away, and not before they're ready. We start with calming skills. Later, your child may tell the story through words, drawings, or play, at a pace we set together.
It depends on your child. TF-CBT has a set of steps, so it often has a clearer shape than other counseling. I check in with you regularly, and we adjust as we go.
That is still a good reason to call. Children sometimes show the effects of a hard event months or years later, often as fears, trouble sleeping, or changes in behavior.
